Trip to Torino in the time of Covid

After not seeing her mother Fiorenza for 21 months my wife and I flew with Ryanair from London to Torino on Monday 9th August. On the Saturday 48 hours prior to departure we completed a lateral flow test (£50) at our local chemist.

Upon arrival we traveled to Fiorenza’s house and remained there for the next 5 days. We were contacted on Tuesday (Day 2) by ASL – Torino, who explained that we needed to quarantine for 5 days and complete a form provided by Z-care.  We were subsequently contacted to inform us that we were booked in for  a test on Saturday at 14.00.  We were also advised that we could use the free Croce Rossa facility at Puerto Nuova.

On Saturday (Day 6) morning we went to Puerto Nuova, Croce Rossa facility and queued for approximately 2 hours, prior to a lateral flow test (free) and a 15 minute wait to get a letter signed by a doctor, confirming the negative result. From this point onward we enjoyed the remainder of our vacation.

On Tuesday (Day 9) we completed a lateral flow test at a local chemist (€25) to enable us to board the return flight, 3 days prior to the flight. We were furnished with a letter confirming a negative result, as stipulated in English. Apparently French, Spanish and English are the accepted languages for such documentation.

We returned on Thursday (Day11) and completed a UK Day 2 PCR test (£79) at our local Chemist on the same day.  We received confirmation of negative results by email the next day.

All in all a good trip. Flights and parking costs for two people £200; Covid 19 tests £300. My only feeling is that the flights are looking like great value for money!
